War Whoop

Friday, January 11th, 2002

(Dazed and confused? See Jemima’s Annotated Guide to the Blog Wars.)

I forgot to mention another blog war chapter, From the Swiss Department of War, by Liz. I think it comes before Lori’s installment. Rumor has it Blogger ate Seema’s next chapter. And where did I get this reputation for yelling? I have not yet begun to yell…

Four Friendly Feedbacks

Wednesday, January 9th, 2002

I came home to four feedback emails for a new fic I hadn’t even had a chance to announce here yet (because blogger’s been up and down), Jade’s Drabble. It’s just a drabble, but Jade’s been passing it around the J/C lists. I think this might be the first time I’ve gotten feedback totalling more words than the story itself.

The previous post may have been the last blog war volley…dare I hope? Another bit of whoo-hoo news: Psyche is back up. The sky isn’t falling after all.

Jintian has a new article up at zendom, about Real People Fic. She suggests that people who live in glass fandoms shouldn’t throw stones…or something like that.

Not another one…

Title in honor of the new year, Marvin the Paranoid Android-style.

After much, much, much wrestling, the blog seems to be fully functional in its new home. Prohosting is still omitting the archive links and corrupting the files, perhaps while serving them, which is something there’s no fixing. Freeshell is back in DNS limbo, so I’ve hardwired the IP addy in some places. That explains the very odd location bar readings you may be receiving. Sigh.

On the bright side, Jade has a brand new story up, Second Epiphany, and the favicon is definitely working. Bookmark this page in IE (for Windows) and you’ll see it.

Where am I?

Sunday, December 30th, 2001

Don’t panic - it may not be as yellow, but it’s still Jemima’s Trek. My previous homepage was too yellow and Trekky for my new, multifandom feng shui. This one isn’t sufficiently branded yet, but a chevron or two should fix that. Tomorrow.

The move almost went well. Blogspot is doing the secret redirect… mwhahahaha! I think I’ve ironed out all the technical difficulties at freeshell, but prohosting is another matter. Maybe a base href will clear up the problems there. And the archives keep disappearing, but that’s just blogger.

Moving Day

Sunday, December 30th, 2001

In my never-ending quest to be more like Liz, I’m moving the blog to my home page. If all goes well, you should be redirected there automatically. If all doesn’t go well, I must have backups around here somewhere…

Of Demons and Favicons

Saturday, December 29th, 2001

Anna has made another addition to the Demon Casablanca Blog.

I tried to make a favicon for the blog here, but it’s probably not working. I can’t test it because I use a mac, and favorites icons are an Evil Microserf extension. If you’re using IE 5+ for Windows, try bookmarking this page and see if you get the little yellow shirt.

The Twelve Moons of JuPiter contest is over and I lost. It turned out most of those hits weren’t from the contest - only twenty or so people read my two entries. The stories got many more hits for being linked in the JuPiter Station archive.

It goes without saying that no one sent feedback. One person, tops.

Pardon the ads…

Friday, December 21st, 2001

Freeshell is moving this weekend, so I’ve redirected the site to the new mirror at prohosting until everything sorts itself out.

You know, the yellow is starting to get to me. I may take it off the main page. Someday. It’s not nearly so garish on a laptop - at first I thought it was the Mac/Windows color shift that was causing the eyeball vinegar, but now I’ve seen it on Windows laptops, and it’s definitely the TFT screen.

Real Jemima Fic

Thursday, December 20th, 2001

Bringing a whole new meaning to the term Jemific, Seema has put up her real people fic about Lori and yours truly: The Poolboy Diaries.

Mirror, rorriM

Friday, December 14th, 2001

Yes, I’m still up. Yes, it’s far too late for this, but I made a mirror at Prohosting.

The Silent Movie of the Soul

Friday, December 14th, 2001

It’s really late, but I finally put up The Silent Movie of the Soul, my first Buffy fic. This story has been much improved by Jintian’s suggestions, especially that whole POV thingy there. Nice beta if you can get her…

I think I’m becoming addicted to editing - it was actually fun to go through this story umpteen times. Now that I’ve abandoned the field, I’m not claiming it was a victory. It’s just bedtime for Buffybot.

Oops, freeshell just went down. There’s no Buffy on the mirrors because they won’t let me upload. Sigh.
