"I was wondering how this guy Pete got his security clearance." Jack avoided the General's eye. "Just out of curiosity."

"Major Carter is a smart woman. I wasn't surprised she found someone who wasn't going to take 'it's classified' for an answer. I couldn't tell her she had to choose - there's only so much I can ask good people to give up." Hammond paused. "If you found--"

Jack interrupted. "Don't worry about me - I've been down that road. I could handle the 'better,' but it fell apart on the 'worse'."
