Memories

As I step out of the Stargate on Chulak, I recall the world of my youth. I remember brave warriors who would die before displaying cowardice. The gods were false, but the loyalty was real. But as I walk through these dark streets, my people do not stand as tall as they do in my memories. There is a furtiveness to their movements which does not suit Jaffa.

I seek Bra'tac. He planted the first seeds of ambition in me and, I now realize, the first doubts. "Who is stronger," he once asked, "the guards, or those who need guarding?"
